Most of us have the option to stay away from General Peter Pace. But some GSB staff members don't have that option. They have to coordinate every aspect of a high-profile visit from a public official who has used his platform to call gays and lesbians "immoral" and advocate discrimination.
We call upon GSB Dean Ted Snyder to make an immediate and official statement that GSB staff members who find Pace's presence offensive and insulting - those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or have GLBT relatives or friends - and who have with responsibilities connected to the Management Conference, shall have the option to request alternative duties without reprisal.
We've requested this statement both in private and in public. It would represent a minimal acknowledgment of the University's commitment to inclusion, nondiscrimination, and respect.
